Teaching reading 'by the pupil for the pupil'

In the Autumn term, Brune Park School began a new 'by the pupil for the pupil' project, in which pupils with good reading ability coached pupils with poor reading ability, using Yes We Can Read. After just half a term the results have been quite astounding. Here are just a few of the comments from coaches and learners:

Coach: "I feel amazing I want to help more."
Yr 11: "I walk with a spring in my step."
Yr 7: "I do not get so angry now."
Yr 7: "I read a whole paragraph out loud in history, never done that before."
Teacher: "It's so much more than just learning to read."
