Writing Manchester: literature in the city from 1960 to the present

This unique exhibition, designed and curated by Dr Corinne Fowler and Dr Kate Horsley of Lancaster University covers fifty years of writing in Greater Manchester, which has a growing reputation as the independent publishing capital of the North. It profiles the city's most influential writers, publishers and writing organisations, as well as providing an overview of our city's literary trends and specialisms.

With 35,000 visitors a week, the central library isthe best possible venue for publicising Manchester's writing and publishing. Gatehouse Books and Write About are featured alongside Comma Press, Commonword Press, Manchester Irish Writers, Migrant Writers and the Manchester Writers’ Gallery.
